I. Program Features
Study anywhere around the world: Use the chosen platform to shape strong online classroom interactions and enhance your learning experience. You will also be able to contact students from all over the world in online cooperation and Chinese language practice.
Focus on language applications: We adopt the self-compiled textbook ‘Chinese in Real Life’, which is highly suitable for international students living in China. Your teachers will also systematically improve and evaluate your communicative progression in all areas of Chinese language acquisition through theme-based teaching over the program.
Integration of language learning and cultural understanding: The program not only incorporates the introduction of Chinese culture into the teaching but also opens a wealth of online language and cultural activities. While enhancing the interest and diversity of the courses, it also allows you to deepen your understanding of Chinese through understanding Chinese culture.
Featured recorded resources: The thematic recorded course units allow you to understand the teaching better and retain the learning concept in a cooperative way. They turn classes into exciting adventures, and you may become more invested in learning with achievements.
Rich online learning materials: We offer various Chinese learning materials, including keywords, language points, recorded videos, dialogue videos, audio, course summaries, and more. All Learning materials, as well as assignments, will be uploaded to the learning management platform. Tech tools such as VT and CANVAS are used to improve your after-class reviews and interactions.
Trial class: It is possible to partake in a trial class free of charge on the first day of the program. After the trial, you can decide whether or not to enroll.
Assistant support: The teaching assistant assigned to each class will provide additional support for students.
Quality accreditation: We are the only language program in China accredited by EAQUALS for language education, which guarantees consistency and quality in our teaching methods.
II. Program Schedule
Spring Semester: every March to June; Fall Semester: every September to December
15 weeks per semester; 8 class hours per week (1 class-hour = 45 minutes)
III. Course Arrangement
Course Schedule for 2023 Spring Semester (Online):

Application deadline for 2023 Spring Semester (Online):

Class time: live sessions (GMT+8): 6:30 PM-9:00 PM;
Class arrangement: Each week has 6 class hours of live teaching and 2 class hours of self-study with tailored learning materials and software (1 class hour = 45 minutes). The instructor will arrange the sequence of the recorded learning and live courses.
Course levels: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. After registration, new students are asked to take an online written test at a designated time. You will be assigned to a class based on the test result (At least 8 students per class).
IV. Fee
Application fee: CNY 400
Tuition: CNY 5,500 per semester
Preferential policy:
New applicants recommended by international students who studied in Donghua before can enjoy application fee waivers;
If you are currently enrolled or a past student at Donghua University, the application fee will be waived, and you are eligible for a tuition discount, which is CNY 4,800.
Payment methods: Cash, UnionPay, Online Payment (Wechat, Alipay, Visa/MasterCard)

V. Application
Age requirement: 16-60 years old
Application procedure
Apply online via https://admissions.dhu.edu.cn/ with your personal information and the chosen language program;
Upload the required document; ensure that you enclose all the scanned documents clearly and visible, and the file size should be below 100KB.

The university will email you and review your application once we receive your admission fee. We may ask you to submit additional information if necessary.
Wait for your admission result. Whilst we aim to give you a decision via email within 10 working days, in some instances, due to the volume of applications received, it may cause some delay.
VI. Others
Textbooks: Self-compiled textbooks Chinese in Real Life with online supplementary learning materials.
Visa
Documents for student visa and Residence Permit (Study) application will NOT be provided.
Accommodation
The University will NOT offer accommodation services or documents.
Refund
Application fee: Non-refundable;
Tuition: It is possible to partake in a trial class, free of charge, on the first day of the program. After the trial, you can decide whether or not to enroll and complete the payment within the first week of instruction. No refund since the second week of instruction.
Full refund: quit the program before the start of instruction.
50% refund: study terminated in the 1st week of study.
NO refund will be accepted since the 2nd week of study.
Class distribution
Students have to take a placement test to evaluate their Chinese proficiency, and they will be divided into different levels based on the test result.
In the 1st week, the student is allowed to change the course level within a specific timeframe.
